Book Recommendations for Boss Babes

Updated: Jun 3, 2023

This one's for the girls... who has ever had a small business... who wished upon a shooting star... I am no Martina McBride, but I have always dreamt of starting a blog post like that.

Happy International Women's Day to the boss babes who make our world go 'round!

Women-owned businesses are a driving force in the American economy, with over 12.3 million women-owned businesses generating $1.8 trillion in revenue and employing over 9.2 million people. These businesses span a wide range of industries, from retail and hospitality to technology and finance. There are so many positive examples of successful women-owned businesses that serve as inspiration and motivation for other women who want to start their own ventures.

Entrepreneurship is not for the faint of heart. Starting a business takes courage, determination, and a willingness to take risks. We don't become "boss babes" but a chance of luck. Women in business conquer the world by never giving up and always trying to be the best versions of ourselves.

Book recommendations for boss babes

One of the best ways to stay driven throughout your career is to read (or listen to on Audible) other professional women's testimonies. Many powerful women share their best tips and trick in their published books. Their books define in detail how their individual paths led them to be the successful women they became.

This International Women's Day, Stack Strategies Co. encourages you to order yourself a new book. Learn the perspective and habits of someone you look up to. If you're looking for some inspiration, these books are a great place to start...

  1. "Lean In" by Sheryl Sandberg - This best-selling book by the COO of Facebook is a must-read for any woman who wants to succeed in the business world. Sandberg provides practical advice and shares her own experiences as a woman in leadership.

  2. "Girlboss" by Sophia Amoruso - This memoir by the founder of Nasty Gal is a candid look at Amoruso's rise from the thrift store owner to successful entrepreneur. It's a great read for anyone who wants to start a business with little to no resources.

  3. "The Confidence Code" by Katty Kay and Claire Shipman - Confidence is key in entrepreneurship, and this book provides insights and strategies for building it. Kay and Shipman argue that confidence is not innate but can be learned and developed.

  4. "Becoming" by Michelle Obama - In this book, Michelle Obama shares her life story, from her childhood on the South Side of Chicago to her experiences as a student at Princeton and Harvard Law School, to her years as First Lady of the United States. Throughout the book, she reflects on the challenges she faced as a black woman in a predominantly white world and how she overcame them with perseverance, hard work, and the support of her family and friends. "Becoming" also offers insights into Michelle Obama's views on politics, public service, and the importance of empowering women and girls.

  5. "You Are a Badass" by Jen Sincero - This self-help book is all about developing a mindset of success. Sincero provides practical advice and exercises for overcoming self-doubt and achieving your goals.

  6. "How to Be a Boss B*tch" by Christine Quinn - This book is a motivational and empowering guide for women who want to take charge of their lives and become successful in their careers. The book offers practical tips and strategies on how to negotiate, network, and build a personal brand, as well as advice on overcoming common obstacles and challenges that women face in the workplace.

  7. "Daring Greatly" by Brené Brown - This book is not specifically about entrepreneurship, but its principles are highly applicable to anyone who wants to take risks and be vulnerable. Brown argues that vulnerability is not a weakness but a source of strength.

These books are just a few examples of the many resources available for women who are looking to be inspired by other successful women. There is always something new to learn and discover. Reading books like these can help you gain the knowledge and inspiration you need to succeed.
